 | Mahogany Dressing Table

An unusual Regency mahogany dressing table. The rectangular hung top enclosing fitted interior of various small compartments, an adjustable toilet mirror and two slides with two drawers below on scrolled carved lyre end supports joined by a stretcher on reeded sabre legs with original casters.
The present dressing table of a type developed from the sofa table relates to a design for a ladies dressing table published by Thomas Sherraton in his encyclopaedia c1805 p1.47., other examples are illustrated Margaret Jourdain Regency Furniture 1965 p103 fig. 245 and Clifford Musgrave Regency Furniture 1800 - 1830, 1961 Figs. 8a - 8b.
